Remove the "AI-generated" Label on TikTok

TikTok reads Content Credentials inside your upload and labels anything that says AI. If your real footage got caught, drop the video below to see what is inside and save a clean copy, with no quality loss.

AI info label detector and remover

Use this to fix wrongly labeled real photos and to clean private metadata. Content that was actually AI-generated should still be disclosed, as Meta's policy requires.

The short answer

TikTok automatically labels uploads whose C2PA Content Credentials say they were made with AI. If a real video or photo carries those credentials because an editing app wrote them, clean the file to remove the C2PA manifest and upload it again as a new post. It will not change a post that is already live.

How TikTok decides to label content

In May 2024, TikTok became one of the first video platforms to read Content Credentials on upload. There are three ways a post ends up labeled:

  • Content Credentials in the file that say AI was used. This is the one a metadata cleaner fixes.
  • TikTok's own AI effects used while creating the post.
  • Your disclosure, the AI-generated content setting when you post.

Why real footage gets labeled

Editing apps that write AI credentials

Adobe tools with generative features, and some phone galleries that use generative erase, can write C2PA into the export. One AI-assisted fix marks the whole file.

Re-uploading a TikTok download

Content made with AI effects can carry credentials when downloaded. Upload that file again and it is labeled again. Check downloads before re-posting.

AI-made thumbnails and B-roll in a carousel

A single generated image in a photo carousel is enough. Check every file, not just the main one.

Cleaning a video without losing quality

Most metadata removers only handle images, or they re-encode video, which costs quality. This tool edits the MP4 or MOV container directly: it finds the C2PA and XMP uuid boxes and turns them into empty free boxes of the same size. No frame is touched and no byte offset moves, so the clip plays exactly as before. More on removing AI metadata from video.

Realistic AI-generated video must still be disclosed on TikTok. This fix is for real footage that was labeled by mistake.

TikTok AI-generated label: FAQ

Why did TikTok add an "AI-generated" label to my video?

TikTok reads C2PA Content Credentials in uploaded files and labels content whose credentials say it was made with AI. It also labels content made with its own AI effects and content where you switched on the AI-generated disclosure. A real clip exported from an app that wrote AI credentials can be caught too.

Can I remove the AI-generated label from a TikTok that is already posted?

If you added the disclosure yourself, check the post's settings. An automatic label stays on that post. To post without it, clean the original file and upload it again as a new video.

Does this tool clean TikTok videos?

Yes. MP4 and MOV files are cleaned without re-encoding. The C2PA box is replaced by an empty box of the same size, so the video, audio and quality are unchanged.

Does TikTok add Content Credentials to my downloads?

TikTok said it would attach Content Credentials to some content made on TikTok, so a downloaded TikTok can carry them to other platforms. Check a downloaded file with the tool before re-uploading it elsewhere.

Can TikTok detect AI without metadata?

Metadata is not the only signal. TikTok also requires creators to disclose realistic AI content and can label content on its own. Removing metadata only addresses the file-based trigger.

Will removing the label get my account in trouble?

Not if the content is real. TikTok's rules require disclosing realistic AI-generated content, and hiding it can lead to removal. Use the tool for genuine footage that was labeled by mistake.
